History & Architecture of Amer Fort

Amer Fort was commissioned by Raja Man Singh I and expanded by later rulers, notably Mirza Raja Jai Singh I and Sawai Jai Singh II. Constructed from red sandstone and white marble, the fort showcases a stunning mix of Hindu and Mughal architecture, symbolising both strength and beauty.
The fort complex is divided into four central courtyards, each with distinctive features. The Diwan-i-Aam (Hall of Public Audience), Diwan-i-Khas (Hall of Private Audience), Ganesh Pol Gate, and Sheesh Mahal stand out for their artistic details and craftsmanship. The use of mirror work, marble carvings, and lattice screens reveals the opulence of the Rajput court.
Strategically perched on the Aravalli hills, Amer Fort not only served as a royal residence but also as a defensive stronghold, connected to Jaigarh Fort by a secret tunnel used during battles.
