Our story is closely tied to Rajasthan’s rich legacy. The princely estate of Mandawa was established in the mid-18th century and has remained in the same family’s possession ever since. Over time, it has grown and evolved into a living example of a heritage palace in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

Thakur Durga Singhji, the current custodian of Dera Mandawa, carries forward a legacy shaped by generations before him. A passionate connoisseur of Rajasthan’s heritage, he has personally designed each suite, drawing inspiration from the region’s art, architecture, and living traditions. His deep knowledge of the land’s religions, flavours, flora, fauna, and folk arts often leads to fascinating conversations with guests. Many consider this exchange a highlight of their heritage experience in Rajasthan.

His wife, Thakurani Usha Kumari, is equally devoted to preserving the family’s customs. She ensures that every meal served here stays true to age-old recipes, bringing the warmth and depth of home-cooked Rajasthani food to your table.

The family at Dera Mandawa are modern traditionalists at heart. At our boutique heritage haveli in Jaipur, we integrate the warmth of conventional living with thoughtful modern comforts. Our historic residence incorporates eco-friendly practices, including solar-powered water heating, rainwater harvesting, and a biogas plant used for cooking. This plant is sustained by our Indian Tharparkar breed cows, who live peacefully in our backyard. We are deeply conscious of the environment and remain committed to creating a sustainable, responsible way of life.
